Ahh! That poem is so cute!
And I am very envious that I am not in New York City. Oh, woe is me.

Liesolotte

Hurrah for Maggie! Keep it up!
Hope I'll be able to finally meet you soon Shannon!

Liesolotte

Where are you on June 2nd?
It doesn't have a location on the Events page (unless that's also BookExpo America?)

Biel

Love the poem! Can't wait for Austenland.

Enna Isilee

*Is shaking with laughter* Oh boy is Maggie a Hale or what?

I'm not sure which is better, Maggie's poem or Max's bio of ya Shannon.

I don't get to see you in NY but I do get to come to 4 of your events this summer! Be prepared to see way more of me then you would like.

Erin

I loved the poem. :-)

Anidori-Isilee

The poem is so cute!

I'm still trying to figure out if I could convince my parents to drive me to NYC. Doubtful. :-)

Enna Isilee

What in the WORLD is an "Author Speed-Dating session"?!!?

Shannon... Is there something you'd like to tell us?

;)

Q

Tell Maggie that it's fabulous--MUCH better than my first attempts at poetry.
Alas, school is not out yet so I can not figure out how to make it to NY and back in one day...

Faith #2

wow, Maggie is a natural. I can't wait! Post more poems. PS- Dean and Max have sections on the Squeeter Pig. what about Maggie!?
and yay! I get to see you next month!

Sophie

It seems that once again your events are too far away. New York isn't that far from Ohio... I'll try to convince my parents.

Jessica

I only wish you were coming to Illinois round the Chicago area. I'd positively die with happiness if you did...
Maggie did a great job with her poem :p I can just imagine...

Jean

Great translation! Isn't it wonderful to have talented children? We hope your trip is fun and not too stressful. Take pictures if you get the chance. We just got our copy of the Inkslinger-looking forward to June 9th at TKE and celebrating Austenland.

Enna Isilee

Oh! Love the new homepage!

Callie the Strongbad Fan

Wow! The tour begins! Travel safely Shannon! That poem is sweet!

Lauren A.

Thank you for sharing the loveliness of that poem. It made me smile on this less-than-stellar day. It expresses *exactly* how I've always felt about my feet but have never been able to put to words. lol.
Yay! The tour is starting! See you in June!

Katee

What a talented daughter you have!

Katee

Oh, and, like Liesolotte was wondering, where are the June 2nd events located? And, like Enna Isilee wondered, what on earth is an "author speed dating session"?

Mads

Shannon, you said you were going to Long Island.... is that the BookExpo? I might be able to go then. Because it doesn't say on your events page when you were going to be at Long Island.

Ahhh, I looked Ramsey NJ up on mapquest, and it is a mere 2 hours and 25 minutes away from my house!!!

Kelsey

Ooh, a fellow Ohioan! We've got friends in New York and were talking about visiting them sometime. Hmm...:)
Goodness, the poem was hilarious!

duchessaofrandomness

What a wonderful poem! She is truley gifted! Be carful, se's gaining on you! ;-)

I luv the poem. Especially the translation part *smiles* : )

Gretchen

Pedestrian-heh.
Have so much fun in New York, New York--"the city so nice they named it twice." I'm jealous, since I love the Big Apple myself.

Biel

I'm so excited! I just bought a copy of Austenland and I love it already!! The prologue is so clever.

Dante

I assume you will be landing in John Fitzgerald Kennedy Airport, and therefore will get you in Brooklyn-Queens as well, and then to Long Island. Ramsey is not a municipality of New York City. Therefore, that comes BEFORE the NYC trip, since Ramsey is chronologically before anyway, according to your calendar. Ramsey, then the Boroughs.

Kelly Fineman

Oh how I wish I could come and get my books signed (and rave in person about how very much I loved Austenland). This link to my brief blog review will have to do, I'm afraid: http://kellyrfineman.livejournal.com/205339.html

I must say that after Leila at Bookshelves of Doom posted her review of the ARC back in March, I was in high anticipation until the book arrived in stores. And that I looked for it every single Tuesday in May until it turned up. And said "Finally," when I got it, just the same way that Jennifer Ehrle (as Elizabeth) says that word when she finally gets her letters from Jane.

As a 1995 P&P addict, er, fan, I have to say that I'm looking forward to reading your book again almost as much as I look forward to my next viewing of P&P. Or Emma. Or S&S. Well, you get the point.

Jane

"Start spreading the news,
I'm leaving today,
I want to be a part of it,
New York, New York!"

Ah, now that song is stuck in my head.

the phantom of the opera's bff

Aw man! if you were in NY on a weekend, i'd so be there
but, alas, i've got school

Sookie

funny poem! I wish I lived in New York City!

Oops....

katkat

Wonderful poem. Have a blast.

Jessica

You know, I just did the weirdest thing. I thought this blog thing was a new one, but I thought to myself, "This looks sorta familiar. Didn't Maggie already post a poem?" And guess what, I already read it yesterday. The same blog entry. Ya.

Anne

just bought Austenland!!! i'm so EXCITED, i think i'm gonna faint ...

BURNING

AUSTENLAND WAS AMAZING! I FINISHED IT LAST NIGHT TO THE FRUITLESS PROTESTING OF MY DEAREST MOTHER. THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR SUCH A WONDERFUL AND PERFECT BOOK. IT MADE ME LAUGH ABOUT AS MUCH AS RIVER SECRETS. THERE WAS THIS ONE LITTLE (wahoo!) IN PARENTHESIS AND IT MADE ME LAUGH AND LAUGH. I DON'T KNOW, I GUESS THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT A LITTLE WAHOO THAT'S HILARIOUS. SORRY ABOUT THE ALL CAPS THING, I JUST THOUGHT TODAY ALL CAPS FIT MY PERSONALITY BETTER THAN REGULAR TYPE. HAVE FUN IN NYC, I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO GO THERE. AND TELL MAGGIE SHE IS DEFINITELY THE MOST TALENTED POET IN THE UNDER-ONE-YEAR-OLD CATEGORY. DEFINITELY.

ahhh...sorry for double-posting...

Little Willow

Congratulations on the release of AUSTENLAND. Enjoy the tour!

Dano

I just finished Austenland. It was delightful!
I can't wait to meet you at the Kings English Bookstore June 9th. I hope I'm not the only one in a wide brimmed hat?

RIVER SECRETS was named a 2007 Top 10 Fantasy Books for Youth by Booklist!

Q

Jonathan, you are my hero. I think you are one of the only guys to post here.

Dante

He might not be the only male present. They may just prefer to use a different, less stereotypically masculine name. Besides, not everyone who reads here posts here. How do you know anyone is male or female here? The internet allows you to be whomever you wish, one of its great virtues.

Sir Squeetus

I am male and present, as are others. Existence is not merely for those who announce their location with pompous fanfare, bells and cymbals clanging.

Burning

Yes, because you're one to talk *Sir Squeetus.* I don't go for pompous fanfare or bells and cymbals much. I'm more of a drumroll kind of gal. Or am I? Dante's right. Who knows who is female or male? We can only hope that Shannon is who she says she is. (I'm definitely kidding, by the way.)

But, thanks, Sir Squeetus, for your rousing and annoying generalization. Welcome to the world of existence.

Q

I knew you all would make fun of me for saying that.

Jordan

I just finished Austenland, and I loved it!!!!!!!!!!!! A Mr. Darcy fanatic myself, it was just about perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're AMAZING Shannon!!!!!!!!!!! And I'm using too many exclamation marks but oh well!!!!! It was that good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enna Isilee

*Cry* I don't have it yet. I went to the bookstore and asked they guy at the desk, "I'm looking for a book. 'Austenland' Austen spelled like Jane Austen. Hale." Here was this guy, sitting back in his desk like "why do I care?" And he says, "We have it in the back but it's not on shelf yet."

Ah!

PLEASE please PLEASE, don't give any spoilers guys. PLEASE.

Isn't Rizzo the rat on "The Muppets"?

And hold up. "Q" is "Sir Squeetus"?
