I spring! Except, in the South it already feels like summer. I love to work in my grnadma's garden. We have tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, and carrots. I'm bettr off not left to tend the garden by myself, as I have a tendency to over-water or under-water plants. Let's just say I don't have a very green thumb. Faintly green, maybe. I can't wait for Austenland. I was going to read an advvanced copy, but I gave it to someone else because half the fun is the excitement for waiting for it to come out. Happy Mothers' Day, Shannon! Congrats on your two beautiful children!

P.S.-I've never had a plant dream before. Though I do have the strangest dreams...

Burning

By the way, the hairstyle is fine, I'm sure. Who wants to take pictures when they are pregnant? Nobody.

Sorry for rambling, it's a bad habit of mine...

Burning

I wonder how many comments I could make before someone else stops me...Sorry, three is probably enough. I'm just way too curious. Anyhoo...I should stop now, huh? Yeah, okay, nice talking to you. Sorry for being weird. Ha ha.

Enna Isilee

It's finally hot! After days and days of freezing weather I can actually go outside! Ah! I love it! Of course I still spend most of the day in front of a computer but at least my computer's by a window! Ah! I love exclamation points too!

I have been so anxious for the Austenland party! I even found a regency era dress! (the chances of me actually wearing it are very slim)I'm so excited! And I'm sorry for all of you who can't come.

Ah! I'm just so happy! Spring fever has transformed itself into spring ecstasy! Ah! Ah! And Ah!

rebeca

Wow! Spring is nice, but here in So Cal its hot!! I think summer's here over here! :)

Lindsey

Happy Mothers' Day, everyone! I luv you, mom!
Speaking of which, I got the cutest hat to wear on Sunday, along with my new dress and pink shoes...sorry for rambling, but seriously, the hat is awesome.
Yay, Shannon! I love gardens.

Gretchen

Spring is so splendid! These last few weeks have been toture for me because the weather flip-flopped so much between simply gorgeous and cold/rainy (even snow one day!). I think Spring is here for good now, which makes me happy beyond words.
Enjoy your garden, Shannon! I have this sudden craving for fresh produce after reading your list.
And let's not forget...the happiest of Mother's Day to the most amazing people on earth-Moms!

Marie

Yeah, we were doing landscaping today, also. And right now as I'm typing this I can smell the fresh lilacs picked today! Hmmm, how I love spring.
I can't wait to read Austenland, I just love your books, Shannon!
You're the best!
...and my mom too! lol

Little Willow

Happy Mother's Day Eve!

Austenland is such a sweet book. I'm glad your side story is becoming a reality.

Emily

I spent nine hours between yesterday and today landscaping. My feet hurt really bad. But since we've been working on this landscaping project for two or three years (my family struggles with long-term projects), it's good to be done. Except we still have to plant flowers and shrubs. sigh.

I'm so excited for Austenland to come out! But I can't get it the day it comes out because I have finals, and I wouldn't study if that book was in my hands.

Happy Mother's Day! Sorry for rambling.

Mads

It is so nice to be outside! I hated being cooped up all winter long, and now... sigh. Right now it's raining where I am, but I love it, especially the smell. :o)

My mom and I just watched "An Inconvient Truth". It is nice that it got so warm so fast, but makes you think, a lot.

I can only imagine what it must be like for you to hold a copy of Austenland. It must be pretty awesome.

Tomorrow I get to spend the day with my 22 cousins, and aunts and uncles and grandmom. I can't wait! Happy Mother's Day!

p.s. Is Maggie enjoying the outside world much? My almost 2-year-old brother is (ahhhh, 2 years has gone by so quickly!!!!), we can't put weed killer down because he is always outside!

Nora

Shannon,
Remember a weed is just an unloved flower!
I also love working in the garden we have its not very big we have strawberry's, Raspberry's, and we will get tomatoes and some carrots.
I live in the Northwest in Idaho so its just getting time to plant some stuff!

Lauren

Yes! I cannot wait to read the gooey chocolateness!

Happy Mother's Day!
:)

Twiggie

Spring is lovely, no? It's finally spring on the east coast, too, thankfully, and it's nice to be outside.

I am so excited for Austenland.

(And Enna Isilee is lucky because she can actually go instead of dream of going!)

Happy mother's day to you and any and all mothers! And happy spring!

Q

Happy Mother's Day!

I can't wait for Austenland!

Burning

Happy Mother's Day!

Kelli

If you're having troubles with your garden, one can usually find a local gardening club in which one can find solutions to problems. (Local is better because it means that they work with the same soil, so they will have experience with these problems)I can't wait to read Austenland. Happy Mother's Day!

Sylvia

HA ha! "we all smell perpetually like dirt and sweat." I can relate to that Shannon! It sounds like something Enna would say to Razo :) I suppose that's what you say to Dean, right?
BY the way congratulations on Austenland!! I'm itching to read it so much...You must feel so happy holding the final copy in your hands, just like a proud mother cuddles her new born baby!

katkat

That's funny.
My yard is full of flowers and freash cut grass while the inside looks like a after party.lol

Dante

How much does it cost to irrigate that garden of yours, Shannon? Must be very difficult, especially if you grow plants that can't use saline, like glasswort. Remember the reason why Julia Ward Howe created Mother's Day, that mothers are not to raise their sons as killers of other women's sons.

Dante

Sorry to double-post, but it won't let me make links in posts, so you need to type in the URL, or site address, below to find a copy of the Mother's Day Proclamation.

Biel

Good luck with your veggies and fruits. I'm crazy excited for Austenland to come out.

Kelly

Happy belated Mother's Day!

And I have to tell you that I absolutely adored (as in 'want to curl up in bed and read it again immediately only I selflessly gave the ARC to another bookseller') 'Austenland'!

Bonnie

Your comment to your mom made me cry. I'm sure you were one of the best daughters in the whole world to have. I have a pre copy of Austenland and I am reading it for the third time! I love it. It is a companion book to BBS's movie Pride and Pregecise. They go together hand in hand. You can't have one without the other. I made my husband watch Pride and Pregidice last week, and by the time he finished it, he said that he liked it. You don't understand........... he liked it ! ! ! It's like pulling teeth to get him to watch anthing but adventure stories. So, now he's ready to branch out and read Austenland. I know he'll like it. Keep up the good work Shannon. You are loved by so many.

Please cancel that last comment! It was sent before I edited my spelling. Do you ever just write fast and then correct later? I'm embarrassed that it got away from me.
Shannon, your comment to your mom made me cry. I'm sure you were one of the best daughters in the whole world to have. She never had to worry about you at all.

Spring isn't THAT great here. It only got to a hundred and eleven today... *sobs* but we DO have a garden. we're gonna sell the stuff this year. and for mothers day... *drum roll* we got mom a ring. exciting. her birthstone. My FRIENDS mom, however, got twins. a boy and a girl. how wonderful is that?

Alyssa Goodnight

I love (and have always loved) bean with bacon soup. And I'm thrilled for you and excited to get my hands on Austenland!

Your garden sounds like it's gonna be awesome!

Dante

That's a problem with living in Arizona, Faith. I bet you have to heavily irrigate your fields as well, as must Shannon, if your plants are to survive. Still not as hot as where Lucifer lies in chains at the bottom of the Inferno.

Burning

Dante, I hope you know you are the randomest person EVER. Maybe not ever, but you're up there. But, don't worry, so am I. I just thought you should know...ha.

Faith

(( OOC mean the two fields of corn fifteen minutes away? corn is the only thing that prospers))

Heather Zundel

Yes to all counts! Yea for mommies all over the world and it is so true. Also the world is so fresh, who can't help but have a green thumb (I, like you have very sad attempts keeping little green things alive. I killed a cactus for goodness' sake! You can't get much worse than that). I'm so happy that you finally got a copy of Austenland, that is so exciting. I can't wait for the release party.

PopCorn

Hi. Oh my gosh! I am one of those Shannon Hale Book Freaks! I love her writing, I want to be like her too! Her kids are adorable! Oh. I am such a nerd!
